🙏 Gratitude
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Teilhard reframes our identity as inherently spiritual and worthy of gratitude.

Sometimes, when the world feels heavy and the noise of daily chores, deadlines, and endless to-do lists becomes too loud, it is easy to forget who we truly are. We get so caught up in the logistics of being human—paying bills, fixing broken faucets, and managing our schedules—that we start to believe our entire existence is defined by these tasks. But this beautiful quote reminds us of a much deeper truth. It suggests that our physical bodies and our earthly struggles are just the temporary vessel for something much more vast, eternal, and luminous. We are much more than our mistakes or our job titles; we are essence itself, simply walking through a physical landscape for a little while.

I think about this often when I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the little things. Just the other day, I was sitting by the pond, feeling quite frustrated because I had spilled my tea and my feathers were a mess. I was so focused on the physical discomfort and the minor mess that I completely missed the way the sunlight was dancing on the water or the sweet scent of the blooming jasmine nearby. It was a moment where I was acting purely as a frustrated creature, forgetting that the peace I seek is already a part of my very nature. I had to stop, take a breath, and remember that the tea spill was just a tiny ripple in a much deeper, much more beautiful ocean of being.

In our everyday lives, we can practice this shift in perspective by finding the sacred in the mundane. When you are washing the dishes, try to feel the warmth of the water and the rhythm of your movements, recognizing that this moment is a part of your spiritual journey. When you feel a pang of sadness or a moment of joy, instead of just labeling the emotion, try to observe it from that deeper place within you. You are the sky, and the emotions are just the clouds passing through. This doesn't mean we ignore our human struggles, but rather that we learn to view them through a lens of greater meaning and connection.

I want to gently encourage you to take a moment today to look past the surface of your current circumstances. Whether you are facing a mountain of work or just a quiet afternoon, try to tap into that eternal part of yourself that remains untouched by the chaos. Ask yourself, what part of me is watching this experience unfold? By recognizing your spiritual essence, you can find a sense of groundedness and peace that no earthly storm can take away. You are much more magnificent than you realize.
