🌿 Nature
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a human experience.

Teilhard reframes our identity as fundamentally spiritual and natural.

Sometimes, when the world feels heavy and the noise of everyday life becomes a bit too loud, I find myself resting on the words of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. This quote reminds us that our true essence isn't tied to our titles, our struggles, or even our physical bodies. Instead, it suggests that we are vast, eternal, and deeply connected to something much larger than ourselves. We are essentially stardust and spirit, merely navigating the beautiful, messy, and temporary landscape of a human life.

It is so easy to get lost in the 'human' part of the experience. We spend so much energy worrying about deadlines, grocery lists, and the tiny frictions of social interactions. We become so wrapped up in our personalities and our problems that we forget there is a quiet, luminous part of us that remains untouched by any storm. When we view ourselves as spiritual beings first, the weight of our human mistakes starts to feel a little lighter. We realize that while our human selves might stumble, our true essence is learning, growing, and simply being.

I remember a Tuesday a few months ago when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed. I had spilled coffee on my favorite sweater, missed a deadline, and felt completely disconnected from everything around me. I felt like a failure in the most human way possible. But then, I sat quietly by the window and watched a single leaf dancing in the wind. In that moment, I stopped being a stressed-out duck with a messy desk and felt a sudden, profound connection to the rhythm of the world. I felt my spirit breathing, reminding me that this stressful day was just a tiny flicker in a much grander, beautiful journey.

When we shift our perspective, even the most mundane tasks can become sacred. Washing the dishes or walking through a park isn't just a chore or a way to pass time; it is an opportunity for our spiritual selves to interact with the physical world. We are here to learn what it feels like to touch, to taste, to laugh, and even to cry. Every sensation is a gift being offered to our eternal selves through this human vessel.

Today, I want to gently nudge you to take a moment to look inward. When you feel caught in the whirlwind of your human responsibilities, try to pause and breathe. Ask yourself, what part of me is observing this chaos with peace? Try to find one small moment today to reconnect with that quiet, spiritual center that knows you are much more than your current circumstances.
