We do not need more knowledge we need more wisdom and wisdom comes from our own experience

Spiritual wisdom emerges from direct experience not accumulated information.

Sometimes, I feel like I am drowning in a sea of information. Every time I open my phone or pick up a book, there is a new fact to learn, a new tutorial to follow, or a new way to do things 'better.' It can feel quite overwhelming, doesn't it? Tenzin Palmo’s beautiful words remind us that while gathering facts is helpful, there is a profound difference between knowing something and truly understanding it. Knowledge is like having a map of a forest, but wisdom is the feeling of the damp moss under your feet and the scent of the pine needles in the air. Knowledge is external, but wisdom is something we grow from within.

In our everyday lives, we often try to 'study' our way out of problems. We watch dozens of videos on how to be more patient, or we read endless articles on how to find happiness. But you can read a thousand books on how to swim without ever actually getting wet. Real understanding only arrives when we step into the water. We learn about resilience not by reading about it, but by the moments we fall down and decide to get back up. We learn about love not by studying definitions, but by the vulnerability of opening our hearts to another person.

I remember a time when I was feeling quite lost and tried to fix my anxiety by researching every possible psychological theory. I had stacks of notes and highlighted passages, yet I still felt just as unsettled. It wasn't until I sat quietly in my garden, watching the slow, rhythmic movement of the ducks in the pond, that I truly understood the value of presence. I had to stop seeking answers in books and start feeling the stillness in my own heart. That moment of quiet observation was a piece of wisdom that no textbook could ever provide me.

As you go about your day, I want to encourage you to trust your own journey. Don't feel pressured to have all the answers or to master every new piece of information that comes your way. Instead, pay close attention to your lived moments. Notice how you react to challenges, how you find joy in small things, and how you navigate the messy, beautiful parts of being human. Your experiences are your greatest teachers, and they are crafting a wisdom within you that is uniquely yours. Take a deep breath and trust that you are learning exactly what you need to know, one heartbeat at a time.
