“Instinct is something which transcends knowledge and wonder transcends both leading us to truth”
Wonder operates at a level that transcends both instinct and knowledge.
Have you ever had one of those moments where your mind couldn't quite explain why you felt a certain way, but your heart just knew? Nikola Tesla once said that instinct transcends knowledge, and wonder transcends both, eventually leading us to the truth. To me, this means that while books and logic are wonderful tools, they are only part of the map. There is a deeper, more ancient part of us that feels its way through the dark, guided by a sense of awe and a gut feeling that often knows the way before our intellect can even catch up.
In our busy, modern lives, we are often taught to rely solely on what can be measured, proven, or written down in a manual. We spend so much time accumulating facts and data that we sometimes forget to listen to the quiet whispers of our intuition. We try to solve every problem with a spreadsheet, but life isn't always a math equation. Sometimes, the most profound truths don't come from a logical deduction, but from that sudden spark of wonder when we look at a sunset or the strange, unshakeable feeling that we are exactly where we need to be.
I remember a time when I was feeling quite lost, trying to decide which path to take with a new creative project. I had researched every possible outcome, mapped out every risk, and analyzed every potential failure. I was drowning in knowledge, yet I felt more stuck than ever. It wasn't until I stopped analyzing and simply sat in the quiet, allowing myself to wonder about the possibilities without judgment, that the answer emerged. It wasn't a logical conclusion I had reached; it was a sudden, instinctive pull toward a direction I hadn't even considered. It was as if my wonder had bypassed my cluttered thoughts to find the truth.
We often think that to find the truth, we must work harder and learn more, but sometimes the path to clarity is actually found by letting go of the need to know everything. When we allow ourselves to be amazed by the world and trust that inner compass, we open doors that logic alone could never unlock. It is in that space of awe that the universe speaks most clearly to us.
Today, I want to encourage you to step away from the spreadsheets and the checklists for just a moment. Take a deep breath and ask yourself what your wonder is telling you. Don't be afraid to trust that quiet, instinctive nudge, even if you can't explain it with words just yet. Let yourself be amazed, and see where that wonder leads you.
