😊 Happiness
The only constant in life is change.

Heraclitus finds peace in accepting the fundamental impermanence of existence.

Sometimes, when I look out over the pond, I see how the seasons dance across the landscape. The vibrant greens of summer eventually give way to the crunchy, golden browns of autumn, and the stillness of winter always precedes the waking bloom of spring. Heraclitus captured this beautiful, swirling truth so perfectly when he said that the only constant in life is change. It can feel a bit scary, can't it? We often try to build walls around our lives, hoping to keep everything exactly as it is, but life is more like a river than a stone. It is always moving, always shifting, and always bringing something new to our shores.

In our everyday lives, we feel this constant flux in ways we don't always realize. We experience it when a favorite hobby loses its spark, when a long-term friendship evolves into something different, or even when the simple routine of our morning coffee changes because we moved to a new home. We tend to resist these shifts because we associate change with loss. We mourn the version of ourselves that lived in the past, clinging to the familiar even when it no' longer serves us. But if we only look at what is leaving, we might miss the incredible beauty of what is arriving.

I remember a time when I felt quite lost because my favorite little corner of the garden was renovated. The old, crooked wooden bench where I used to sit and watch the dragonflies was gone, replaced by a sleek, modern stone path. At first, I felt a pang of sadness, missing the weathered texture of the wood. But as the days passed, I realized the new path allowed me to wander deeper into the flower beds than I ever could before. The change didn't take away my peace; it simply expanded my world. It taught me that while the scenery changes, the joy of discovery remains.

Instead of fighting the currents of life, what if we learned to swim with them? Embracing change doesn't mean we have to love every single transition, but it means we trust that each shift carries a lesson or a new opportunity. Every ending is just a quiet doorway to a new beginning. Next time you feel the ground shifting beneath your feet, take a deep breath and try to see what new landscape is being revealed to you. What is one small change you can welcome today with an open heart?
