⏳ Time
“Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.”

Theophrastus elevates time above all material possessions.

When we hear that time is our most precious currency, it can feel a bit overwhelming. We often think of wealth in terms of gold, savings, or possessions, but Theophrastus reminds us that the true treasure lies in the minutes and hours we inhabit. Unlike money, which can be earned back after a loss, a moment spent is gone forever. This realization brings a certain weight to our days, asking us to consider not just how much we do, but how much of ourselves we are truly present for.

In our modern, busy world, it is so easy to let time slip through our fingers like sand. We find ourselves scrolling through endless feeds or worrying about tomorrow's to-do list, effectively absent from our own lives. We treat time as if it were an infinite resource, something we can always reclaim later. But the beauty of life is found in the small, unrepeatable intervals—the way the sunlight hits your coffee cup or the sound of a loved one's laughter. These are the moments where we are actually spending our lives.

I remember a time when I felt completely drained, much like a little duck struggling against a heavy current. I was so focused on finishing every task and meeting every expectation that I didn't realize I was spending all my precious time on things that didn't nourish my soul. I was working hard, but I wasn't living. It wasn't until I intentionally slowed down to sit in the quiet of a morning garden that I realized I had been bankrupting my spirit to pay for a life of mere busyness. I had to learn to stop spending my time on stress and start investing it in peace.

We all have the power to change our spending habits. You don't need to make massive life changes overnight to honor your time. It can be as simple as deciding to put your phone away during dinner or taking five minutes to simply breathe and notice the world around you. When we become mindful of our spending, we begin to treat our hours with the reverence they deserve.

As you move through your day, I invite you to pause and ask yourself: Is what I am doing right now worth the precious time I am giving to it? Try to find one small way today to spend your time on something that truly makes your heart feel full and warm.
