⏳ Time
“It is not that we have a short time to live but that we waste a good deal of it.”

Seneca warns against squandering our precious time on trivial pursuits.

Sometimes I sit by the pond and watch the dragonflies darting across the water, and I can't help but think about how much time passes in a blink. Seneca’s words hit me right in the heart because they remind us that life isn't actually a scarcity of hours, but rather a scarcity of intention. We often complain that the years are flying by too fast, yet we rarely stop to look at how much of that time we let slip through our fingers while we were distracted, worried, or simply waiting for a better moment to truly begin living.

In our modern world, it is so easy to fall into the trap of 'busy-ness' without any real purpose. We spend hours scrolling through feeds of people we don't know, or we lose entire afternoons worrying about things that will never actually happen. We treat time like an infinite resource, assuming there will always be a tomorrow to start that hobby, call that friend, or finally rest deeply. But the truth is, the time is there; we just aren't being present enough to claim it as our own.

I remember a time when I felt completely overwhelmed by a mountain of tiny, unimportant tasks. I was so focused on cleaning my nest and organizing every little pebble that I realized a whole week had passed without me ever taking a moment to actually enjoy the sunshine or share a snack with a friend. I was busy, yes, but I wasn't living. I was merely managing my existence instead of experiencing it. I realized then that I was wasting my precious time on things that left my heart feeling empty.

It is a gentle wake-up call to look at our daily rhythms and ask ourselves what truly nourishes our souls. We don't need more hours in the day; we need more presence in the hours we already have. Instead of waiting for a grand milestone to start being happy, we can find it in the small, intentional pockets of our day.

Today, I want to encourage you to take just one small moment back from the distractions. Put down your phone, take a deep breath, and do something that makes you feel truly alive, even if it only lasts for five minutes. What is one beautiful thing you can do with your time right now?
