⏳ Time
“Make the best use of what is in your power and take the rest as it happens in time”

Use your time wisely and accept what lies beyond your control.

Sometimes, life feels like a giant, swirling storm where everything is happening all at once. We find ourselves gripping the steering wheel of our lives so tightly that our knuckles turn white, trying to control the weather, the traffic, and even the feelings of the people around us. This beautiful quote by Epictetus reminds us that there is a profound difference between the things we can influence and the things that are simply part of the unfolding universe. It invites us to find peace by drawing a line between our own efforts and the natural flow of time.

In our daily lives, we often exhaust ourselves by trying to force outcomes that aren't ready to bloom. We might spend weeks worrying about a project at work that hasn't even been assigned yet, or we might obsess over how a friend might react to a difficult conversation. We treat our anxiety as if it were a form of productivity, thinking that if we worry enough, we can somehow bend reality to our will. But true wisdom lies in recognizing that while we can prepare, we cannot dictate the final result. We can plant the seeds, water them, and pull the weeds, but we cannot force the sun to rise or the rain to fall.

I remember a time when I was trying to organize a massive community garden event. I had planned every single detail, from the seed packets to the snack menu, and I stayed up late every night checking lists. I was so focused on making everything perfect that I became completely miserable. I was trying to control the weather, the turnout, and even the mood of every volunteer. It wasn't until a dear friend sat me down and reminded me to just focus on the preparation and let the rest happen that I could breathe again. Once I stopped fighting the unpredictable parts of the day, I actually started enjoying the process of gardening itself.

When we learn to release the grip on the uncontrollable, we find a new kind of energy. We can pour all that wasted worry back into our own actions, our own kindness, and our own growth. We become more effective because our focus is concentrated exactly where it matters most: on our own choices and our own character. The rest will arrive in its own season, exactly when it is meant to.

Today, I want to encourage you to take a deep breath and look at your current worries. Ask yourself which of these burdens are actually within your power to change. For everything else, try to practice the gentle art of letting go and trusting that time will bring what needs to be brought.
