⏳ Time
“We must use time as a tool, not as a couch.”

It's so easy to let days drift by while you're 'getting ready' to start. But time works best when you pick it up and build something with it. Even small steps count.

Have you ever sat staring at a clock, watching the second hand sweep around and around, feeling like the minutes are just slipping through your fingers? John F. Kennedy’s words remind us that time is something we can actively shape and utilize. When we treat time like a couch, we are essentially letting it swallow us up, becoming passive observers in our own lives. But when we treat it as a tool, we become the craftsmen of our own destiny, using every hour to build something meaningful, whether that is a new skill, a deeper relationship, or a healthier version of ourselves.

In our modern world, it is so easy to fall into the trap of the couch. We scroll through endless feeds, we linger too long in moments of procrastination, and we let the day drift away without a sense of purpose. We often think we are resting, but true rest feels different than the heavy, stagnant feeling of wasting time. Using time as a tool doesn't mean you have to be running a marathon every single day; it means being intentional. It means deciding that this hour belongs to your growth, rather than letting it simply vanish into the void of distraction.

I remember a period in my life where I felt completely stuck, much like a little duckling lost in the reeds. I spent weeks telling myself I was just 'taking a break,' but I wasn't actually recharging. I was just sitting on the couch of time, letting my dreams gather dust. One morning, I decided to pick up a tiny tool: a notebook. I committed just fifteen minutes a day to writing down my thoughts. That small, intentional use of time changed my entire perspective. It turned a stagnant period into a season of reflection and preparation. I stopped letting the clock happen to me, and started making the clock work for me.

It is okay to rest, but please, do not mistake idling for recovery. There is a beautiful difference between laying down to regain your strength and laying down because you have given up on the day. You have so much potential tucked away inside you, waiting for the moment you decide to pick up your tools and start building.

Today, I want to encourage you to look at your schedule not as a list of burdens, but as a toolbox. Is there one small thing you can do with your next hour that will make you feel proud? Pick up that tool and see what wonderful things you can create.
