🔄 Change
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow.”

자연스러운 변화는 삶의 일부야. 그 변화를 거부하지 말고 받아들여.

Sometimes, the world feels like it is spinning just a little bit too fast. We build these beautiful, sturdy little nests of routine, hoping that if we hold onto our habits tightly enough, nothing will ever shift. But Lao Tzu reminds us that life is inherently a flow of natural and spontaneous changes. When we try to build walls against the wind or grab onto a moment that is already passing, we aren't actually preserving anything; we are simply creating friction within our own hearts. Resistance is where the heaviness lives, turning a simple transition into a deep, lingering sorrow.

Think about the seasons changing in the garden. We might miss the warmth of summer when the first crisp chill of autumn arrives, and it is natural to feel a pang of nostalgia. However, if we spent all of autumn mourning the summer sun, we would completely miss the quiet beauty of the falling leaves and the cozy preparation for rest. The change isn't the enemy; it is just the universe moving forward. In our daily lives, change often arrives unannounced, whether it is a shift in a friendship, a new job, or a change in our own physical strength. The pain usually doesn't come from the change itself, but from our desperate struggle to keep things exactly as they were.

I remember a time when I felt quite lost because a project I had poured my heart into suddenly came to an end. I spent weeks feeling frustrated and stuck, trying to figure out how to force things back to the way they were. I was so focused on the closed door that I didn't notice a new, tiny window opening right next to it. It was only when I finally let out a big, tired sigh and accepted that that chapter was over that I felt the weight lift. Once I stopped resisting the end, I finally had the energy to see the new beginnings waiting for me.

As you move through your week, I want to encourage you to take a gentle breath whenever you feel that familiar tightening in your chest caused by uncertainty. Instead of asking how you can stop the change, try asking what this new season is trying to teach you. You don't have to love every change immediately, but you can choose to meet them with an open heart rather than clenched fists. Let the river flow, and trust that you are capable of navigating whatever new waters appear.
