“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”

진정한 자신이 되기 위해서는 용기가 필요해. 자신을 발견하는 여정을 계속하자.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like you were wearing a mask that didn't quite fit? That is what E.E. Cummings is touching upon with this beautiful thought. Growing up isn't just about getting taller or reaching new milestones in your career; it is about the brave, often messy process of shedding the layers of who the world expects you to be so that your true self can finally breathe. It is about finding the strength to honor your own values, even when they clash with the expectations of those around you.

In our everyday lives, this courage often shows up in very quiet, subtle ways. It might be the moment you decide to stop saying 'yes' to things that drain your spirit, or the day you finally admit that a dream you once held no longer resonates with your heart. We often mistake staying the same for being safe, but true safety is found in being authentic. The world can be loud and demanding, constantly trying to mold us into something more convenient, which makes the act of standing in our own truth feel like a radical act of bravery.

I remember a time when I felt quite lost, trying so hard to be the perfect, most helpful version of myself for everyone else. I was so busy making sure my feathers were perfectly preened and my pond was tidy that I forgot to check if I was actually happy. I was playing a role instead of living my life. It took a lot of trembling courage to admit that I needed to change my boundaries and prioritize my own peace. It was scary to face the possibility that some people might not like the new me, but the relief of finally feeling like myself was worth every bit of the struggle.

As you navigate your own journey of transformation, please remember that growth is rarely a straight line. There will be days when you feel like you are retreating into your old shell, and that is perfectly okay. The important thing is that you keep listening to that small, inner voice that knows your true name. Every time you choose authenticity over conformity, you are honoring the person you were always meant to become.

Today, I want to encourage you to take a tiny step toward your true self. Is there a small truth you have been hiding? Is there a passion you have been suppressing? Just acknowledge it. You don't have to change everything overnight, but you can start by simply being honest with yourself about who you are becoming.
