🔄 Change
“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”

시간이 모든 걸 변화시키진 않아. 스스로 나서서 변화를 만들어야 해.

We often find ourselves waiting for the seasons to shift, hoping that a new month or a new year will magically sweep away our worries and bring a fresh start. There is a comforting myth in the idea that time is a healer that works quietly in the background, smoothing out the rough edges of our lives without us needing to lift a finger. But Andy Warhol’s words remind us of a much more profound and empowering truth. While time certainly passes and circumstances may shift, the real transformation happens when we decide to pick up the brush and paint a new reality for ourselves.

I think about how easy it is to fall into the trap of passive waiting. We stay in jobs that drain our spirits or maintain habits that no longer serve us, telling ourselves that things will eventually get better on their own. We treat time like a magic wand, expecting it to perform miracles while we remain stationary. But time is just a canvas; it provides the space, but it doesn't provide the movement. If we want the scenery of our lives to change, we have to be the ones to step onto the path and start walking.

I remember a time when I felt stuck in a very repetitive, gray routine. I spent months waiting for a burst of inspiration or a sudden change in my environment to make me feel alive again. I kept thinking that once the weather warmed up or once my schedule cleared, I would finally feel like myself. It wasn't until I realized that no amount of waiting would change my internal landscape that I started making small, intentional shifts. I began waking up earlier to see the sunrise and started saying no to obligations that weighed me down. The change didn't come from the calendar turning; it came from my decision to act.

It can feel a bit overwhelming to realize that the responsibility for change lies with us, but there is also a beautiful freedom in that thought. It means you aren't a victim of the passing hours. You are the architect. You don't have to rebuild your whole world in a single day, but you can choose one small thing to alter right now. Whether it is a shift in your mindset, a new boundary, or a tiny new habit, the power is in your hands.

Today, I want to encourage you to look closely at the areas of your life that feel stagnant. Instead of waiting for the clock to fix them, ask yourself what small, brave step you can take to initiate that change yourself. You have so much more agency than you realize.
