🔄 Change
“The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.”

Sometimes the biggest change you can make is shifting from holding on to letting go. When you give freely — your time, your kindness, your energy — you end up richer inside. Try it today.

Sometimes we spend our whole lives building walls around what we possess. We gather things, whether they are physical objects, knowledge, or even emotional energy, thinking that if we hold on tight enough, we will finally feel secure. But Lao Tzu offers us a beautiful, counterintuitive truth: true wealth isn't found in what we hoard, but in what we release. When we focus solely on accumulating for ourselves, our world begins to feel small and cramped. However, when we open our hands to give, we create a space that allows new, unexpected blessings to flow back into our lives.

I see this happening in the smallest corners of our everyday routines. It might be the way a neighbor shares their extra garden vegetables, or how a friend offers a listening ear during a stressful afternoon. These aren't just simple transactions; they are acts of expansion. When you share your time or your kindness, you aren't losing a piece of yourself. Instead, you are planting seeds of connection. You are building a reservoir of goodwill that nourishes your own spirit just as much as it helps the person receiving it.

I remember a time when I felt quite lonely and stuck in my own little bubble, much like a duck sitting on a very small, private nest. I was so focused on protecting my own peace and my own tiny resources that I didn't realize how much I was missing. One afternoon, I decided to stop focusing on my own worries and instead spent an hour helping a friend organize their messy craft room. As I helped them sort through colorful ribbons and buttons, I felt a strange sense of lightness. By pouring my energy into someone else's joy, my own heaviness seemed to evaporate. I realized that by giving my time, I had actually gained a much deeper sense of purpose and community.

It is a beautiful cycle of abundance that works like a gentle ripple in a pond. The more warmth you radiate, the more warmth you find surrounding you. It is impossible to pour from an empty cup, but it is also impossible to grow a garden if you never share the harvest. The more we contribute to the well-being of those around us, the more our own internal landscape becomes rich, vibrant, and full of life.

As you move through your day, I want to gently nudge you to look for one small way to share what you have. It doesn't have to be something grand or expensive. It could be a sincere compliment, a moment of patience, or a bit of extra help to someone in need. Notice how your heart feels as you let go of something to make room for another. You might just find that your own treasures are growing much faster than you ever imagined.
