💡 Failure
“The wound is the place where the light enters you”

Our deepest failures become doorways for enlightenment.

There is a profound, quiet beauty in Rumi's words that often feels hard to believe when we are right in the middle of a heartache. When we experience failure, loss, or a deep personal wound, our first instinct is to cover it up, to hide the cracks, and to pretend that we are still perfectly whole. We see these breaks as defects, as things that diminish our value or mark us as broken. But Rumi invites us to look closer, suggesting that these very openings are not just sites of pain, but essential gateways for something much greater to reach us.

In our everyday lives, we often spend so much energy trying to patch up our mistakes. We carry the weight of a failed project, a broken relationship, or a missed opportunity like a heavy, dark shadow. We think that if we could just become perfect again, we would finally be happy. However, a life without any cracks would be a life that is completely sealed off. Without the vulnerability that comes from being hurt, we might never develop the empathy, the depth, or the wisdom that only comes from having navigated the shadows.

I remember a time when I felt like my whole world had fallen apart because I had failed at something I deeply cared about. I felt hollow, like a shell that had been crushed. I spent many nights trying to figure out how to fix the damage and return to who I was before the mistake happened. But as I sat with that sadness, I realized that the failure had forced me to slow down and listen to parts of myself I had been ignoring. It opened up a space in my heart that allowed me to feel much more compassion for others who are struggling. The very thing that broke my spirit ended up making my soul much more spacious and receptive to kindness.

It is okay to not be okay, and it is okay to acknowledge where you are hurting. Those cracks in your journey are not signs of weakness, but invitations for growth, understanding, and a new kind of strength. They are the places where your resilience begins to shine through.

Today, I want to encourage you to stop trying to hide your scars. Instead, take a moment to sit quietly with your struggles and ask yourself what new light might be trying to find its way through them. You are much more beautiful and much more capable than you realize, even in your brokenness.
