☮️ Peace
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms to choose ones attitude in any given set of circumstances toward peace.”

Frankl locates ultimate freedom and peace in the unassailable right to choose our attitude.

Sometimes, life feels like a giant storm that has swept everything out of our nests. We lose jobs, we lose loved ones, or we lose our sense of direction, and in those moments, it feels as though we are completely powerless. Viktor Frankl’s words remind us that even when the external world is stripped bare, there is a tiny, sacred space inside our hearts that no one can touch. That space is our ability to decide how we respond to our struggles. It is the quiet strength to choose kindness or patience even when everything around us feels chaotic.

I think about this often when I see my friends facing difficult seasons. There was a time when a dear friend of mine lost her small bakery, a place she had poured her entire soul into. She felt like she had lost her identity along with her business. But slowly, I watched her reclaim her power. She couldn't change the fact that the shop was gone, but she chose to view the closure not as an end, but as a quiet space to rediscover her passion for baking at home. She chose an attitude of grace instead of bitterness, and that choice changed her entire world.

This kind of freedom isn't about pretending that things aren't hard. It isn't about toxic positivity or ignoring the pain. Instead, it is about acknowledging the heavy circumstances we find ourselves in and deciding that we will not let them dictate our character. We might not be able to control the weather, the traffic, or the unexpected setbacks of life, but we are the masters of our own inner landscape. We can choose to seek peace, even in the middle of a battlefield.

As you go through your day today, I want to invite you to take a deep breath and check in with your inner pilot. If you find yourself caught in a moment of frustration or loss, ask yourself: what is one small, peaceful attitude I can choose right now? You might not be able to change your situation, but you can always change the lens through which you view it. You have so much more power than you realize.
