👨‍👩‍👧 Family
“The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.”

Pouring into your family never leaves you empty — it fills you up in ways you didn't expect. The more love you give, the more you'll find coming back to you.

Have you ever noticed how some things seem to shrink the more you try to hold onto them? We often spend our lives building walls around our time, our energy, and our resources, thinking that if we keep everything for ourselves, we will eventually feel full. But Lao Tzu offers us a beautiful, counterintuitive truth: true wealth isn't found in what we accumulate, but in what we release. When we focus on laying up treasures just for our own comfort, we often end up with a heart that feels heavy and a life that feels quite small. Real wisdom lies in understanding that generosity is actually a form of planting seeds that grow into a garden for us all to enjoy.

In our everyday lives, this doesn't always have to be about grand gestures or large sums of money. It is found in the small, quiet moments of sharing. It is the extra ten minutes you spend listening to a friend who is struggling, or the way you share your knowledge with a colleague without expecting anything in return. When we give our attention and our kindness, we aren't losing ourselves; we are actually expanding our world. Every time we extend a hand, we create a new connection, and those connections become the true treasures that enrich our souls.

I remember a time when I felt very protective of my own peace and energy. I was so focused on making sure I had enough 'leftover' for myself that I started pulling away from my friends and family. I thought I was being smart by saving my strength, but I actually just ended up feeling very lonely. It wasn't until I started making a conscious effort to show up for others—to bring a small treat to a neighbor or to send a thoughtful note—that I realized my own cup was being refilled by the very act of pouring into others. The more warmth I shared, the warmer my own nest felt.

It can feel a bit scary to let go of that sense of control and start giving more freely. We worry that if we give too much, we will run dry. But the magic of generosity is that it works like a well; the more you draw from it to help others, the more the water rises to meet you. You might find that by helping someone else find their way, you inadvertently find your own path more clearly.

Today, I want to encourage you to look for one small way to share what you have. It could be a compliment, a bit of your time, or even just a smile to a stranger. As you release a little bit of what you are holding, pay close attention to how much more room you find for joy within yourself.
