🌺 Beauty
“I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey work of the stars”

Even the simplest natural things contain cosmic beauty.

Have you ever stopped to look closely at a single blade of grass swaying in the breeze? It is so easy to overlook the tiny, quiet things in our lives because we are constantly looking toward the horizon, searching for the big, cinematic moments that define us. Walt Whitman’s beautiful words remind us that there is no hierarchy in wonder. A tiny leaf of grass carries the same cosmic importance, the same intricate complexity, and the same miraculous energy as the furthest, brightest star in the galaxy. Everything that exists is a masterpiece of effort and existence.

In our everyday lives, we often fall into the trap of believing that only 'big' achievements matter. We wait for the promotion, the wedding, or the grand vacation to feel like we have truly lived. We ignore the small, rhythmic pulses of beauty that happen right under our feet. But if we only value the stars, we miss the magic of the earth. The small things are not just precursors to greatness; they are greatness in a different, more intimate form. The way the sunlight hits a coffee mug or the sound of a loved one's laughter is just as much a miracle as a supernova.

I remember a morning not too long ago when I was feeling quite overwhelmed by the weight of the world. I was staring at my long to-do list, feeling very small and insignificant. I stepped out into my garden, feeling quite grumpy, and noticed a tiny ladybug navigating the edge of a clover leaf. I watched her for several minutes, mesmerized by her tiny, purposeful journey. In that moment, the chaos of my schedule faded. I realized that if that tiny creature could carry such immense purpose in such a small frame, then perhaps my small, quiet moments of peace were just as vital as my grandest ambitions.

When we shift our perspective to see the cosmic value in the mundane, the world becomes a much kinder place to inhabit. We stop waiting for life to begin and realize that life is happening right now, in every breath and every blade of grass. There is no need to rush toward the stars when the earth is already providing us with everything we need to feel whole.

Today, I want to encourage you to take a slow walk or simply sit by a window. Look for one small, seemingly insignificant thing and try to see the entire universe within it. Let yourself be moved by the tiny wonders, because they are just as much a part of your beautiful journey as the brightest star.
