🎯 Purpose
“The meaning of life is just to be alive it is so plain and so obvious and so simple and yet everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves”

The purpose of life may be far simpler than we imagine just to be fully alive

Sometimes, it feels like the world is running a race that nobody actually signed up for. We wake up with a mental checklist of accomplishments, a mountain of tasks, and this heavy, invisible pressure to become something more than what we are right now. We treat our lives like a puzzle that is only finished when we reach a certain milestone, a certain title, or a certain level of success. But Alan Watts reminds us of a beautiful, grounding truth: the point of the music isn't to rush to the final note, but to dance while the melody is playing. The meaning of life isn't a destination we arrive at; it is the very breath we are taking right this second.

I see this happening so often in our daily routines. We sit at our desks, eyes glued to screens, worrying about next month's deadlines or next year's goals, completely bypassing the warmth of the sun hitting our skin or the taste of our morning coffee. We become so focused on the 'extra' things we need to achieve that we forget the miracle of our own existence. We are so busy trying to build a legacy that we forget to actually inhabit the life we have already built. It is a quiet tragedy to spend your entire journey looking toward the horizon, never noticing the flowers blooming at your feet.

I remember a time when I felt particularly overwhelmed, much like a little duck caught in a sudden downpour. I was so preoccupied with making sure everything in my nest was perfect and that I was meeting every expectation that I stopped noticing the joy of the pond. I was checking off boxes but feeling empty inside. It wasn't until I forced myself to sit still by the water's edge, watching the ripples spread out without any goal in mind, that I realized I had been missing the entire point. I didn't need to be 'more' to be worthy; I just needed to be present.

As you go about your day, I want to invite you to take a tiny step back from the rush. When you feel that familiar panic rising, try to find one small, simple thing that reminds you that you are alive. It could be the rhythm of your walking, the sound of a loved one's laughter, or even just the sensation of your feet on the ground. You don't need to achieve anything extraordinary today to justify your existence. You are already enough, simply because you are here, breathing and being part of this beautiful, messy, wonderful world.
